FIRS Early Learning Program offers services that can help increase your parenting knowledge, skills and confidence and provide appropriate activities to optimise your child’s development. The following services are offered by qualified staff with expertise in child development.
Weekly Playgroup sessions provide an opportunity to meet with other parents/caregivers and have fun positively interacting with your child. Playgroup sessions are designed to enhance your child’s development and skills in preparation for school.
Family Rhyme Time sessions run weekly. These sessions are designed for babies and young children to have fun sharing action rhymes and songs with their parents.
Home Visiting sessions may be offered to assist families in need of assistance with skills development activities and support.
Child Development Information and Advice is available for children aged 0-5 years.
Information and Referral to other community service agencies for parenting and early years support is available.
Workshops on a variety of parenting and child development issues are provided on occasion.
This service is free and available 2 days per week to families with children aged 0-5 years living within the Shire of Kalamunda.
The Foothills Information Referral Service (FIRS) and YMCA WA Training (RTO No: 3979) are working together to provide opportunities for accredited training at the FIRS Community Hub Forrestfield.
The first course on offer is the BSB10115 Certificate I in Business, 12 weeks in duration, attending two days a week during school term, starting in September 2017.
Limited places are available. For this course, students should be aged 18 years and over.
There are Full Fee, Concession and Fee Waiver options available for applicable students.
